Our History

Nearly 15 years ago, a few Nigerian friends who had been enjoying the game of golf together for some time realised that the group was growing yearly. Finally in 2004, they decided to formalise the time spent together by forming an association and playing golf once a month. The group was called the “Nigeria-UK Golfing Association” (NUGA). NUGA held its maiden event at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club (in Orpington, Kent) in April 2004. Over 20 golfers turned up for the event, played golf, had a tremendous amount of fun and never looked back.

Over those years, NUGA has accomplished a number of major achievements, including:

Over 100 monthly events in top golf courses in the UK
4 International events, each of which was attended by over 100 golfers and friends from the US, Europe and Africa and 5 Homecoming events, where members played golf and embarked on charity tours in Nigeria.

The association has supported many charities including the African Child Trust (ACT), Zimbabwe A National Emergency (ZANE), Damilola Taylor Trust (DTT) and The Akabusi Charity Trust among others.
